Jakarta POPNAS Rowing Contingent Wins Five Gold Medals

The Jakarta Rowing contingent, Tuesday (11/4), grabbed five gold medals and two silver medals in the competition held at Cincin Reservoir, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Jakarta Rowing Manager, Adi J Gumilang said, there are eight numbers being competed on the third day of the XVII National Student Sports Week (POPNAS).

"Of the eight numbers competed in today, we won seven medals," he said.

For the five gold medals, Adi explained, each was won by Febrian who competed in the Men's Single Sculls event and the Men's Double Sculls event paired with Mikhael Aggelion.

Marsela Putri Damaryanti also won the Women's Single Sculls and Women's Double Sculls with Nawal Athifah Dharma. Sean Carmello Fortunius Londir and Muhammad Revand also won gold in the Men's Coxsackie Pairs event.

Reva Jovankaviva and Maria Fibriyani also won two silver medals in the Women's Coxsackie Pairs event, and the Men's Quadruple event, with Yuga Alfatan, Mikhael Aggelion, Cevan Rizky Surya Asadil, and Sean Carmello Fortunius Londir.

"Our initial target was four gold medals, but we can get more," he explained.

Adi hopes that today's achievements will also boost the athletes in facing the next match.

"We'll be competing in the canoeing event tomorrow. Hopefully we will win gold and become the overall rowing champion," he hoped.
